Pitak Silprasit, Deputy Managing Director, Bangkok Port,  said that the  setting up of e-Gate to increase the port’s facilities and services is progressing well and on schedule and the smart gate system could be open by October this year.

The project to equip Bangkok Port with e-Gate started last August and was expected to take 420 days to complete.

According to Mr. Pitak, the project includes renovation and construction projects which are:

  • Renovation of four stations: Examination Stations at West Quay, at East Quay, at Container Yard 1 and at Container Yard 2.
  • Construction of three new stations: Examination Stations at Container Yard, at Container Depot and Examination Station at Art Narong Road.

The construction and renovation work of e-Gate at the Bangkok Port was 49% complete as of April 2009. Mr. Pitak said the setting up is expected to be completed on schedule. When completed, the hi-tech e-Gate will reduce working processes and help quicken the flow of trucks in and out of the port. “The e-Gate facility will improve services offered to customers, added Mr. Pitak.
