| One of the central
activities of BSAA is to provide information on the shipping
business and logistics management to its members. Therefore,
training courses and seminars on related industry topics are
organized regularly. In 2006 and 2007, BSAA has organized many
courses for its members covering a wide range of topics, such as
The Bill of Lading and Liability, Maritime Law, Maritime
Transport of Dangerous Cargo, and UCP 600. Additionally, BSAA
has organized ad-hoc meetings with members to gather information
about problems they encounter with any new announcements from
the authorities. Problems that have been discussed were brought
to the attention of relevant authorities to remedy include
priority berth at the BKP, various problems with the Customs
Department, and issues surrounding the Foreign Business Act.
From time to time, BSAA has organized
recreational activities for members including such events as
cocktail parties, golf tournament, and bowling. The purpose of
these events is to encourage members to meet each other.
Government officials have also been invited to participate in
these activities to encourage cooperation between members and
government agencies. The sub-committee has agreed to continue
to support these activities in the years to come.
BSAA was founded in 1968 and, in May
2008, will be celebrating 40 years of establishment. The
sub-committee has planned a celebration in honor of the
anniversary during May 2008. There will be a cocktail party
and golf tournament as well as many other activities planned
for the celebration.
