Si-Chang Island in Brief |
|
Si-Chang Island is
situated 12 km from the shore of Sri Racha District and 117 km from
Metropolitan Bangkok. |

The total area is
about 18 sq.km. (11,250 rai). Eighty percent of the area is hilly
and rocky. A rocky grassland of about 500 rai is in the middle part
of the island. There are no major rivers, streams or ponds on the
islands, except one man-made reservoir. Sixty-seven percent of the
island lies between 0 and 50 metres above MSL, 26% at 50 to 100
metres above SML, 6% at 100 to 150 metres above MSL and 1% is above
150 metres MSL. The coastal area on the western side of the island
consists mainly of rocky shores and steep cliffs while the eastern
consists of rocky beach. The water around Si-Chang is mostly greater
than 20 metres deep which was deemed suitable for the development of
a deep seaport. |
